During last week, Incognita Patagonia film was awarded at the Fort William Mountain Festival in the heart of the incredible Highlands region of Scotland. The film received "The Spirit of Mountain Culture" prize, highlighting the main goal of the expedition and the values of the team members.
Eñaut Izagirre travelled to Fort William or An Gearasdan (in Scottish Gaelic) to receive the award on Thursday night (Feb 16), giving also a talk in the Backcountry skiing night on Saturday night (Feb 18) together with Simon Christy, who was the main guest of the session. While in the other session called Mountain Legends, Sir Chris Bonington was invited to share his "life and times" after the presentation of the 2017 "The Scottish Mountain Culture Embassador" given to Hamish Brown and "The Scottish Youth Mountain Culture Embassador" given to Robert MacKenzie. In the rest of the days great athletes, mountaineers and climbers where around too, such as climber Hazel Findlay, bikers Lee Craigie and Martyn Ashton or runners Katharine and David Lowrie.
Sir Chris Bonington talks to the attentive audience.
However, the most important part of this warm festival is all the people that participated in every session and rest of events that the wonderful organization, conducted by Mike Pescod, prepared very seriously and lovingly, which makes this festival very special for all the inhabitants of the beautiful Lochaber area. Special mention to Zeemon Erhardt for giving permission to use the photos.
